One Frustration Too Many.

I developed JD Document Forge after 40 years in banking, real estate, and business transactions. I was a current user of an online document automation program when I simply grew tired of having to log in, upload my templates, and surrender control of my own forms.

It was a cumbersome process — and at $2,400 a year, I felt like I was renting the document templates I had created from my own forms. The variables and answers I built weren't truly mine.

So I built the tool I wished existed: a fast, secure, desktop application that uses the forms I already trust. I made it work the way I work — tested it, tweaked it, and tested it again. When I was done, I decided it should be available to other lawyers at a price that solo practitioners and smaller firms can actually justify.

Does it work on Mac and Windows?

JD Document Forge is available now for Windows 11, fully tested in active daily practice. A macOS version is built and tested and is coming soon — see the next question for details.

When will the Mac version be available?

The macOS version is built and tested and will be released as soon as it clears Apple's Developer Program approval. That approval is what allows Mac users to install the app smoothly, without security warnings. To be notified the moment it's available, email info@jddocumentforge.com.

Do I need Microsoft Word?

Yes. Word is required for document generation. A Microsoft 365 subscription with desktop apps installed is fine — the desktop versions of Word and Excel are what matter. Excel is used in the background.

Do I need an internet connection?

No — and that's a feature. JD Document Forge works completely offline. No logging in, no connectivity issues, no waiting. It runs whether you're in the office, in a conference room, or traveling.

Is my client data uploaded to the cloud?

Never. Everything runs on your computer. Client information, templates, and generated documents stay on your machine or your firm's private network — period.

Can I use my own existing document templates?

Yes — that's the whole point. You tag your existing Word documents using The Forge's Template Builder, add them to a practice area, and they become fully automated. Your forms, your formatting, your way.

What does the free trial include?

What template packs are included?

Every license includes a library of standard variable lists for contracts, real estate transactions, employment documents, and more, that will turbo-charge your template builds.
